Stuck? Start here

Most questions have a quick answer below. If yours isn't one of them, email support@childallowance.app. We're a small team in the UK, so a person reads every message — not a bot, and not a queue. Usually the same day, always within two working days.

Before you email

Four things turn a two-day back-and-forth into a single reply:

Common questions

I've forgotten my password
On the login screen, choose Parent, type the email address you signed up with, then use “Forgot password?”. The reset link is emailed to you and expires after about an hour. Nothing about your family changes while you reset it.
My child has forgotten their PIN
A parent can set a new one: Family tab → Edit child → New PIN. Leaving that field blank keeps the current PIN. Children sign in with a username and a PIN rather than an email address, so there's no reset link for them — which is the point.
How do I delete my family and everything in it?
Family tab → Delete family, then type your family's name to confirm. It removes the family, every child, every job and the whole payday history, immediately and permanently — you don't need to ask us to do it for you. Our hosting provider's encrypted backups may still hold a copy until they age out of its rolling backup window, after which no copy remains.
If you pay for Premium, cancel it first. Deleting a family does not cancel the subscription, and the two are separate — see the answer below. If you have already deleted and are still being billed, email us and we'll sort it out.
How do I cancel Premium?
If you're still on the 30-day trial there's nothing to cancel unless you've subscribed: the trial takes no card, and when it ends you simply drop to the free plan. If you subscribed during your trial, your first payment is taken when the trial ends (or straight away if it had less than two days left) — cancel before then in Family tab → Manage billing and nothing is charged. Once you're paying, it's the same place: Manage billing opens the billing portal, and you keep Premium until the end of the period you've paid for. That button only appears once you've subscribed, and it isn't shown in the iOS app at all; open the site in a browser and you'll find it in the same place.
What happens to my other children if I go back to the free plan?
Nothing is deleted. The free plan keeps one child and one parent active; anyone beyond that is paused — they can still sign in, but instead of their dashboard they see a short note explaining that the account is paused, and everything comes back exactly as it was when you upgrade. The same applies to a second parent or carer account.
Is there an app?
Not yet — iOS and Android are on the way. Until then it runs in any browser, on a phone as well as a laptop; add it to your home screen for one-tap access, your child's own login included.
I've found a bug
Please send it, with the steps that trigger it. Anything that loses data or blocks a payday goes to the front of the queue.
